Cancer Facts and Figures Supplemental Data available from American Cancer Society
Each year, the Department of Epidemiology and Surveillance Research follows the publication of its annual Cancer Facts & Figureswith the release of supplemental data. CCPE will be incorporating this information in guidance for regional planning updates later this year.
You may find this information helpful for cancer control planning with staff, volunteers, state and local officials, the media, and other public health and advocacy groups in local communities. Supplemental data on the following topics is now available:
The age distribution of the estimated new cancer cases and deaths in 2008 for lung, prostate, female breast, and colorectal cancers – and for all cancers combined.
The 2008 estimated new cancer cases and deaths by state for additional cancer sites not included in Cancer Facts & Figures 2008, such as kidney, stomach, esophagus, and others.
The lifetime probability of developing and dying from cancer for additional cancer sites not included in Cancer Facts & Figures 2008, such as thyroid, liver, pancreas, and others.
The relative and observed probabilities of surviving cancer at one to five years following diagnosis and 2008 estimates on the number of one-to-five year survivors for each state.
