Barber Shop returns to Monmouth County.
The Monmouth Cancer Coalition is pleased to announce that Barber Shop is returning in 2011. This innovative program which provides free prostate screening for low income men of color began last year at a single barber shop in Asbury Park and has grown to multi-site program that will will reach residents in Asbury Park, Freehold and Red Bank this spring.
Anita Linton, New Jersey Barber Shop Coordinator, and the Visiting Nurse Association of Central Jersey as grant recipient of the CEED Program will once again team up with Sir Jean's World of Beauty, just two blocks from the
Barber Shop not only includes a free prostate screen but many other benefits as well. Men are provided with healthy snacks, gifts and a free haircut. While at the barber shop or waiting for his test, Anita Linton educates each recipient about prostate health and the importance of regular screening for prostate cancer.
