Community Action for Tobacco Truth
The Community Action for Tobacco Truth (CATT) is dedicated to reducing dependency on tobacco and educating the community on the health risks associated with smoking.
As of July 2006, the former Communities Against Tobacco Coalition (CAT) has been reformatted into the Community Action for Tobacco Control Coalition (CATT).
The Comprehensive Tobacco Control Program (CTCP) has made tobacco prevention, control, treatment and training top priorities and has developed a comprehensive and integral program to address them.
The following goals of this program are based on
1. Decrease involuntary exposure to second hand smoke, both legally and socially
2. Increase the number of people who start and complete treatment for nicotine dependence
3. Reduce tobacco use among different population groups
4. Reduce tobacco use among all people
5. Decrease the number of youth under 18 and young adults 18-24 who start smoking
In order to accomplish these goals, the CATT Coalition will be developing and implementing services and activities to educate community and civic organizations, such as hospitals, businesses, local government, religious groups, law enforcement agencies, athletic organizations, etc. in order to develop a broad spectrum community network.
