Dr. Donald B. Louria was the guest speaker at the September 7th Quarterly Meeting of the Monmouth Cancer Coalition.
Dr. Louria is Professor and Chair Emeritus of the Department of Preventive Medicine and Community Health at the
University of
Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey.
He recently completed a survey of 1,246
New Jersey adult residents to determine behavioral characteristics related to health outcomes.
His work represents the most recent evaluation of healthy practices in
New Jersey .
Dr. Louria spoke about the HEALTH-FULL-LIFE Program which is now law in
New Jersey as the Health Wellness Promotion Act.
The Program proposes a preventive health exam every two years with a consult in the intervening year.
Although written into law, the Program has not been offered to the public by commercial insurers.
Dr. Louria is working to correct this situation with proposed legislation that would require insurers to offer the Program.
