Monmouth Cancer Coalition Hears Report on Ovarian Cancer
Monmouth Cancer Coalition's Quarterly Meeting Focuses on Ovarian Cancer
Darlene G. Gibbon, Clinical Director of Gynecologic Oncology, The Cancer Institute of New Jersey, spoke on recent advances in treatment of ovarian cancer. She was invited to the Coalition in anticipation of the forthcoming Cancer Control and Prevention Plan which will add a new section on ovarian cancer. Dr. Gibbon spoke pessimistically about current screening tools for ovarian cancer and emphasized the need for women to recognize symptoms themselves and then to see her doctor as soon as possible. She also provided information on treatment options post diagnosis. Dr. Gibbon fielded numerous questions from the membership and was very well received.
