OCCP Director Introduces the New Comprehensive Cancer Control Plan to the Monmouth Cancer Coalition
Peg Knight, Executive Director of the New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services Office of Cancer Control and Prevention, introduced the new Comprehensive Cancer Control Plan to the Monmouth Cancer Coalition.
On March 6, 2008, Margaret L. Knight, Executive Director of the New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services Office of Cancer Control and Prevention introduced the 2008 - 2012 Comprehensive Cancer Control Plan to the Monmouth Cancer Coalition at its quarterly meeting. The new Plan builds upon the highly regarded 2003 - 2007 Plan that established an ambitious agenda for combating cancer in New Jersey. The original Plan contained fifteen chapters covering a wide variety of cancers and related topics. Sixty goals, 114 objectives and 349 strategies addressed cancer prevention, early detection, treatment and survivorship.
The new Plan builds upon the first by addressing strategies not completed and adding additional perspectives, recommendations and objectives in research and surveillance, survivorship, gynecologic cancers and access to care. A communications plan addresses the importance of public awareness of the Plan and its implementation.
