Prostate Cancer Hospitalizations Down

New study finds prostate cancer hospitalizations down 30%.

Hospitalizations for prostate cancer fell nearly 30% from 1997-2004 to 81,300, according to a new report from the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality. However, hospital stays where prostate cancer was a secondary diagnosis increased 8% over the eight-year period to 416,700, suggesting that more men are living with prostate cancer and are being hospitalized for other conditions, the agency said. Men over 65 accounted for almost 90% of those stays. For the complete report, visit http://www.hcup-us.ahrq.gov/reports/statbriefs/sb30.pdf
